Héctor Cordero Guzmán

Héctor Cordero Guzmán is a Professor at the Baruch College Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs of the City University of New York. He obtained an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Sociology and Demography from the University of Chicago.

Dr. Cordero Guzmán has taught graduate courses and published research on youth socioeconomic development; processes, institutions, and outcomes of the educational system; labor markets and employment; poverty and inequality; community and economic development; and other topics related to education, health, employment, welfare, and social policy. Throughout his career, Dr. Cordero Guzmán has collaborated with and worked as an advisor for several government entities, research institutes, and community organizations, and as Program Officer in the Economic Development and the Quality Employment Units of the Asset Building and Community Development Program at the Ford Foundation.

In 2016, Dr. Cordero Guzmán published «Poverty in Puerto Rico: A Socioeconomic and Demographic Analysis» in collaboration with Raúl Figueroa and Alberto Velázquez. Dr. Cordero Guzmán recently joined the National Academy of Public Administration as a fellow.
