Yolanda Cordero Nieves is a retired Professor at the Graduate School of Public Administration of the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras. Dr. Cordero Nieves has an M.A. in Sociology from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico.
Dr. Cordero Nieves specializes in human resource management in the public sector. In the past, Dr. Cordero Nieves has held administrative positions within the Puerto Rican government, such as Associate Director of the Office of Management and Budget and Director of the Human Resources Department of San Juan. Her work has been published in several specialized journals, including Reforma y Democracia from the Latin American Center for Development Administration, Revista de Administración Pública and Revista de Ciencias Sociales from the University of Puerto Rico, and Revista Ethos from the Puerto Rico Office of Management and Budget.
